A Song for Cesar, Saturday, Mar. 21 at 6pm, Trinity University

Dear NCJW Members:

Please join us for a special San Antonio screening by California filmmakers Andrés Alegría and Abel Sánchez of their wonderful new documentary A Song for Cesar, which tells the story of César Chávez’s leadership of the United Farm Workers as they struggled for better wages, housing, and working conditions.

A particular focus of A Song for Cesar is the support given to the farmworker cause by prominent musicians, actors, and writers, ranging from Joan Baez and Maya Angelou, to Carlos Santana, Luis Valdez, Edward James Olmos, Chunky, and Taj Mahal.

The screening of the film will include a discussion with the filmmakers and Arturo Rodriguez, president emeritus of the United Farm Workers.   It will take place at Trinity University’s Stieren Theater on Tuesday, March 21 at 6:00 PM.   The screening will be free and open to the public.  No ticket is required for entry.

This event is one of several being organized around  San Antonio in celebration of the annual Cesar Chavez March for Justice, which will take place on Saturday, March 25.

So, mark your calendar and plan to join us on March 21.    We will provide you with more specific information about the event in the coming weeks.  To help with our planning, please send your RSVP toemembren@trinity.edu.

Regards,

David Spener
